World Peace Demonstration
May 20 there was a  World Peace Demonstration with a peace march from the International Court of Justice in The Hague to the terminus at the Malieveld. The LNN bus was also located there. There were a number of speeches and a musical performance. The weather was beautiful and people sat in the grass together listening or chatting. It was a successful action with connection. The organizer was already busy with the Parallel Fest for July 22 and 23 in Drachten. Flyers of the festival were being distributed with a great lineup of artists.

In the mean time
In the Netherlands, ther’re fewer large visible actions on the streets during summertime. But locally people continue to connect and take action, like the flag actions at highways or the sign actions, which suddenly pop up somewhere with confrontational facts written on the sign. Every last Sunday of the month there’s the Peace Demonstration in Amsterdam.

Fallen government
That same government slips laws through at a rapid pace, such as the controversial corona law, which gives the minister of health enormous power, without a say. Just in time because the government has fallen yet again. On July 7, 2023, Prime Minister Rutte presented to the King the resignation of all ministers and state secretaries. This makes the Rutte IV cabinet outgoing. This means that the cabinet only completes pending matters. It’s notable that this time very many members left the second chamber.

Farmersprotest
On June 29 there was a large farmers’ protest along with people who think critically or want to support farmers. It started at 10 a.m. It was been a while since the election. The  the big winner was a party that claims to be for farmers, because the word farmer is in the party name. But as is often the case, it’s wise to take a moment to see how the financial lines run. So it’s not surprising that this party, every time is not present to give a speech to the campaigning farmers.

As was expected, the mayor of The Hague issued an emergency ordinance just the day before. Now the police force could be fully deployed. Those also in full attendance were the media, both main stream media and the new media.

At the temporary second chamber in the morning there was already a large group of people, who had been forcibly and violently droven to the Malieveld. At the Malieveld, the protest was permitted. Two large screens showed live footage of the debates in the second chamber.

In front of the podium, the crowd gathered. Less than expected, because the police stopped farmers everywhere, before reaching The Hague. Meanwhile, journalists ran after politicians or take interviews from the public. After all the speeches, it was time for action again. All wenr to the temporary second chamber.

Unfortunately, there was a cordon of police halfway, with the ME waiting for the farmers and demonstrators with drawn batons. They closed off access roads on several sides. Police beated and arrested people. That was the end of this protest. The farmers gained another illusion. This is how the police treat peace-loving demonstrators in The Hague on orders of Mayor van Zaanen.

Een korte update van acties in Nederland tijdens de zomer.

World Peace Demonstration
20 mei was er een World Peace Demonstration met een vredesmars vanaf het Internationaal Gerechtshof in Den Haag tot aan het eindpunt bij het Malieveld. Daar stond ook de bus van LNN. Er waren een aantal toespraken en een muzikaal optreden. Het weer was mooi en mensen zitten in het gras samen te luisteren of kletsen. Het was een geslaagde actie met verbinding. De organisator was al volop bezig met het Parallel Fest voor 22 en 23 juli in Drachten. De flyers werden uitgedeeld met een grote line-up aan artiesten.

Ondertussen
In Nederland zijn er minder grote zichtbare acties op straat tijdens de zomer. Maar lokaal blijven mensen met elkaar verbinden en actie voeren, zoals de vlaggenacties bij de snelwegen of de borden acties, die ineens ergens opduiken met confronterende feiten, die in het land gebeuren.  Elke laatste zondag van de maand is er de vredesmanifestatie in Amsterdam.

Die zelfde overheid sluist er in een rap tempo wetten doorheen, zoals de omstreden coronawet, die de minister van volksgezondheid enorm veel bevoegdheid geeft, zonder inspraak. Net op tijd want de regering is weer eens gevallen. Op 7 juli 2023 heeft minister-president Rutte aan de Koning het ontslag aangeboden van alle ministers en staatssecretarissen. Daarmee is het kabinet-Rutte IV demissionair. Dit houdt in dat het kabinet alleen lopende zaken afrondt. Opvallend is, dat dit keer heel veel kamerleden de kamer verlaten.

Boerenprotest
Op 29 juni was er een grote boeren protest samen met mensen die kritisch denken of die de boeren willen steunen. Het begon om 10.00 uur. Het was alweer een tijdje geleden dat er verkiezingen waren, met als grote winnaar een partij, die zegt voor de boeren te zijn, omdat het woord boer in de partijnaam zit. Maar zoals vaker is het verstandig om even te kijken hoe de financiële lijntjes lopen. Het is dan ook niet raar dat deze partij, telkens niet aanwezig is om een speech te geven aan de actievoerende boeren.

Zoals te verwachten had de burgemeester van Den Haag, net de dag ervoor, een noodverordening afgegeven. Nu kon het politieleger volop ingezet worden. Wie er ook volop aanwezig waren, dat waren de media, zowel main stream media, als de nieuwe media.

Bij de tijdelijke tweede kamer stond in de ochtend al een flinke groep mensen, die met dwang en geweld naar het Malieveld werden verdreven. Op het Malieveld was het protest toegestaan. Twee grote schermen lieten live beelden zien van de debatten in de tweede kamer.

Voor het podium kwam het publiek samen. Minder dan verwacht, omdat de politie overal boeren had tegen gehouden. Ondertussen renden journalisten achter politici aan, op interviewden mensen uit het publiek. Na alle speechen was het weer tijd voor actie. Op naar de tijdelijke tweede kamer.

Helaas stond er een cordon aan politie halverwege. De ME wachtte met getrokken stokken de boeren en manifestanten op. Aan meerdere kanten hadden ze toegangswegen afgesloten. Er vielen klappen en arrestaties. Dat was het einde van dit boerenprotest. De boeren waren weer een illusie rijker. Zo gaat de politie Den Haag om met vredelievende manifestanten, op orders van burgermeester van Zaanen.
