Young people chill on the benches of the Schouwburgplein. Some people eat ice cream on the bench at the edge of the square in the sun. It’s Saturday April 24 and the weather is fantastic for a march through Rotterdam.

The March
The march starts at 2 pm from the Schouwburgplein. Fifteen minutes before departure it seems a bit busier than usual. Where is the crowd. Suddenly the square fills up with walkers. The outdoor space fills with flags waving in the wind, banners and people who are happy to see each other again.

Police
Parents dare to take their children with them again, knowing that this march is facilitated by the police. Police stand around the square. A number of traffic points in the city have been closed. Lots of officers walk along. Other officers ride a bicycle. The mounted police are present with 6 horses. The number of visible police cars can be counted on one hand. In more distant streets, the busses of the ME (military unit) and AE (arrest unit) are out of sight. That creates an atmosphere of trust.

Ukes for freedom
The group ‘Ukes for Freedom’ participates too. Wijnand Schippers plays the ukulele and sings while sitting in the cargo bike. Els and Dennis play the ukulele while walking next to him. Anyone who wants to join is welcome to play an instrument or sing along.

This march has been requested by an organisation from the municipality of Rotterdam . Safetyarrangments have been made. Volunteers in yellow vests assist the walkers during the event. Tinus gives through a megaphone the start signal for the march.

The route is the same as last week. Walkers carry three banners in cheerful colors with familiar texts;

Love and connection
Pedestrians clap along the way, motorists honk and others make hearts with their hands. People wave from the balcony. The energy of love and connection radiates.

Afterparty
The march ends where it started, on the Schouwburgplein. There is still time for a small after party. Participants dance the polonaise, sit comfortably on the artificial grass or stand in groups to chat.

Thanks
A number of cops are thanked by participants and the organization for this fantastic march. Thanks also to the mayor of Rotterdam for respecting fundamental rights, so that people can meet, connect and express themselves peacefully.

Kingsday
April 27 is the birthday of the King of the Netherlands. This day is always celebrated exuberantly in the Netherlands. Children sell stuff or play games on the street. Throughout the country are outdoor fliemarkets. The terraces are open with music performances. People dance and sing.

folkfestival
Due to all the measures, there’s little to celebrate. Too sad for words that this folk festival cannot take place outside. Activists who have been coming together and hugging for almost a year know it’s save outside. We are going outdoors. Not for the king, who betrays his people, but because it’s a festival of the people.

Illegal Laws
The oppressive measures caused massive global damage. Activists speak out about the lies of the government, the dehumanization, medical apartheid, the economic damage, the danger shot with gene therapy, freedom of speech, and so on. The measures have been converted into laws that ignore citizens’ fundamental rights. This seizure of power ends when humans say, enough is enough.

More and more people are speaking out,
cautiously or loudly.

Jongeren chillen op de banken van het Schouwburgplein. Sommige mensen eten ijs op de bank aan de rand van het plein in de zon. Het is zaterdag 24 april en het is fantastisch weer voor een wandeling.

Mars
De wandelaars verzamelen zich om 14.00 uur op het Schouwburgplein. Een kwartier voor vertrek lijkt het wat drukker dan normaal. Ineens loopt het plein vol met wandelaars. De buitenruimte vult zich met vlaggen die wapperen in de wind, spandoeken en mensen die blij zijn om elkaar weer te zien.

Politie
Ouders durven hun kinderen weer mee te nemen, wetende dat deze mars gefaciliteerd wordt door de politie. Rondom het plein staat politie klaar. Een aantal verkeerspunten in de stad is afgesloten. Veel politieagenten lopen mee of rijden op de fiets. De bereden politie staat aan de kant met 6 paarden. Het aantal zichtbare politiewagens is op een hand te tellen. De bussen van de ME (militaire eenheid) en AE (arrestatie-eenheid) staan uit het zicht in straten verder weg. Dat schept een sfeer van vertrouwen.

Ukes for freedom
Ook de groep ‘Ukes for Freedom’ doet mee. Wijnand Schippers speelt op de ukelele en zingt zittend in de bakfiets. Els en Dennis lopen spelend op de ukelele ernaast. Iedereen die wil is van harte welkom om een instrument mee te spelen of mee te zingen.

De organisatie ‘Nederland in opstand’ heeft deze mars aangevraagd bij de gemeente Rotterdam. Over veiligheid zijn afspraken gemaakt. Vrijwilligers in gele hesjes assisteren de mensen in de groep tijdens de manifestatie. Via de megafoon geeft Tinus het startsein van de mars.

Route
De route is dezelfde als vorige week. Wandelaars lopen voorop drie spandoeken in vrolijke kleuren met bekende teksten;
Vrijheid, wanneer, nu!

Liefde en verbinding
Voetgangers klappen onderweg, automobilisten toeteren en anderen maken een hart met de handen. Mensen zwaaien vanaf het balkon. De energie van liefde en verbinding straalt.

Afterparty
De mars eindigt waar hij begon, op het Schouwburgplein. Er is nog tijd voor een afterparty. Mensen dansen de polonaise, zitten comfortabel op het megakunstgrasveld of staan ​​in groepjes om te kletsen.

Bedankt
Een aantal agenten worden bedankt door deelnemers en de organisatie voor deze fantastische mars. Dank ook aan de burgermeester van Rotterdam voor het respect van de grondrechten, zodat mensen vredelievend samen kunnen komen, zich verbinden en uiten.

Koningsdag
27 april is de koning van Nederland jarig. Deze dag wordt in Nederland altijd uitbundig buiten gevierd. Kinderen verkopen spulletjes of doen spelletjes. Overal zijn vrijmarkten op straat. De terassen zijn open met muziekoptredens. Mensen dansen en zingen.

Door alle maatregelen kan er veel niet. Te triest voor woorden dat dit volksfeest buiten niet kan plaatsvinden. De mensen die al bijna een jaar samenkomen en knuffelen weten dat er niets gebeurd. We gaan deze dag niet zomaar voorbij laten gaan. Niet voor de koning, maar omdat het ons volksfeest is.

Illigale wetten
De onderdrukkende maatregelen hebben tot dusverre wereldwijde ellende veroorzaakt. Men uit zorgen over de leugens van de regering, de ontmenselijking, de medische apartheid, de economische schade, de prik met gen-therapie, enzovoorts. De maatregelen zijn omgezet in wetten, waarmee de grondrechten van de burgers niet meer tellen. Deze machtsgreep stopt als we de mensen zeggen genoeg is genoeg.

Steeds meer mensen spreken zich uit,
