Friday evening 19 November is the call to demonstrate in the heart of Rotterdam at 8 p.m. against even more custodial measures and the dichotomy in society. Goverment uses health as excuse. More and more people see that these two things are separate from each other.

Mixed crowd
There is no police in sight at the World Trade Center (WTC) at 8 p.m. The stairs and the Coolsingel are full of people. A lot of fireworks are set off, by football supporters who have their faces covered. On the side of the WTC, people are watching the fireworks at a safe distance. Some people have signs with them.

Football supporters
The football fans are furious with the government and they are chanting it. The fireworks continue. Two scooters are on fire. There’s still no police. At 8.30 pm a helicopter can be heard, which monitors the situation from above.

Music
Under the roof of the WTC, the attendance of an estimated 700 people can be clearly seen. Between the pops there is the fine high-pitched sound of a bell of people singing Hari Krishna. There is also music from the loudspeakers in a cart. DJ Herress is standing on the Coolsingel with his bike and a few are dancing to his beat.

Riot police
Around 8.45 pm a police bus drives hard over the Coolsingel in direction towards Blaak into the public. People run away. The police’s attempt to separate the people failed. Several people chase the bus and pelt the windows. It’s chaos in the heart of the city.

Warning shots
The ME pulls back and fires warning shots into the air. The fire brigade drove via a side street past the Schielandhuis in the direction of Coolsingel. Two police cars are on fire. The water cannon is used to spray targeted water at the cruel demonstrators at the WTC.

An impasse develops in which the young football supporters throw benches in the road. When the ME charges again, it fires again. Near the Schielandhuis, a bare-chested man is transported to the back by riot police in an improvised fabric stretcher. Nearby, a reporter with a cameraman from the German TV channel Bild is recording the scene.

Victims
Shots were fired at the legs. A young man is bleeding profusely. Eldor is a live streamer. He’s live streaming. Startled, he calls out that it’s an arterial hemorrhage. The boy is in imminent danger.
He was taken to hospital by demonstrators in a car.

Marco
Marco is a well-known reporter among the critical demonstrators. Earlier I took a picture of him and Bianca at the stairs of the WTC. He offers help to an injured person. He’s hit by a bullet in his stomach. According to the police, the bullet ricocheted back and accidentally entered his abdomen. Marco is seriously injured and taken to the hospital.

It remains restless until midnight on the Coolsingel. The entire city center is closed. People can get out, but not in. It seems that the riot police then raided young people.

Hospital
Shocked friends have gathered at the hospital to hear how Marco is doing, pray and show support. The bullet pierced the intestines and stomach. He has had surgery and the holes have been closed, but the bullet is still there.

Arrest Eldor
Eldor who filmed a shooting incident involving the shot in the leg of the young man is also there. He’s arrested by the police in the hospital around midnight on suspicion of sedition. His live report is crucial to get a better picture of the situation on the ground. Especially if the main stream media only tells the story in favor of the government.

Saturday 20 November
The World Wide Demo in Amsterdam has been canceled for Saturday 20 November, but many people are going. The energy of connection is fully present at this demonstration. However, attention is paid to the violence that took place in Rotterdam on Friday evening, in which victims fell. There’re demonstrations in other places in the Netherlands.

Rotterdam
The havoc in Rotterdam was cleaned up on Saturday. The black spots in the damaged road surface betray the places where there was a fire. In the evening there is a lot of ME again, the two watercannons are ready this time. A group of Romeo’s is walking towards the Coolsingel.

I take a picture and is advanced. Before I can get my ID my wrists are turned inwards, taken off my bike and arrested on the refusal of not showing the ID. That’s a lie. After two hours in jail I can go home. In the hallway and at the counter there’re many minors who have been arrested.

Sunday 21 November
Eldor is still in jail on Sunday. The charge has been changed from sedition to public assault. That’s very strange. He’s finally released on Monday. Marco is stable. He will be transferred to a hospital near his hometown. The bullet is still in his body.

Albert and Max
Albert is a live streamer and Max reports. Both were arrested at different locations over the weekend. Albert is filming when he’s assaulted by an riot police officer with the bat to his face. He’s being arrested, unclear on what grounds.

Questions
There’re many questions about the protest in Rotterdam on Friday that developed into riots. Images from the live streams have been sent around the world. Mayor Aboutaleb of Rotterdam stated that the protest was allowed to take place, even with fireworks. Little did he know that many rioters would come and the anger turned the protest into riots. Others put question marks wether it’s not sabotaged as an excuse to put in more restrictions.

The biggest question is why were real bullets aimed by the police?
Another important question is whether the government understands the consequences of the destructive measures. It don’t work and citizens their fundamental rights are taken away?

 

Vrijdag avond 19 november is de oproep om in het hart van Rotterdam om 20.00 uur in de avond te betogen tegen nog meer vrijheidsbenemende maatregelen en de tweedeling in de maatschappij. De gezondheid is het excuus. Steeds meer mensen zien dat deze twee zaken los van elkaar staan.

Gemengd publiek
Er is geen politie te zien bij het World Trade Center (WTC) om 20.00 uur. De trappen en op de Coolsingel staat het vol met mensen. Er wordt veel vuurwerk afgestoken, door
voetbalsupporters die hun gezicht hebben bedekt. Aan de kant van het WTC staan mensen op veilige afstand van het vuurwerk te kijken. Een aantal mensen hebben borden bij zich.

Voetbalsupporters
De voetbalsupporters zijn de woedend op de regering en dat scanderen zij. Het vuurwerk knalt door. Er gaan twee scooters in de brand. Nog steeds is er geen politie. Om 20.30 uur is er een helikopter te horen, die van bovenaf de toestand waarneemt.

Betogers
Onder het afdak van het WTC is de opkomst van naar schatting 700 mensen goed te zien. Tussen het knallen door klinkt het fijne hoge geluid van een belletje van mensen die Hari Krishna zingen. Er klinkt ook muziek uit de geluidsboxen in een karretje. DJ Herress staat met zijn fiets op de Coolsingel en een enkeling danst op zijn beat.

ME politie
Rond 20.45 uur rijdt er een politie bus keihard over de Coolsingel richting Blaak het publiek in. Mensen rennen weg. De poging van de politie om de mensen uit elkaar te krijgen mislukt. Een aantal mensen gaat de bus achterna en bekogelen de ramen. Het is chaos in het hart van de stad.

Waarschuwingsschoten
De ME trekt zich terug en lost waarschuwingsschoten in de lucht. De brandweer is via een zijstraat langs het Schielandhuis richting Coolsingel gereden. Er staan twee politie auto’s in brand. Met het waterkanon wordt gericht water gespoten op de wreedzame betogers bij het WTC.

Impasse
Er ontstaat een impasse waarbij de jonge voetbalsupporters banken op de weg gooien. Als de ME weer charges uitvoerdt wordt er weer geschoten. Vlakbij het Schielandhuis wordt een man met ontbloot boven lichaam in een geïmproviseerde brancard van stof door ME’ers naar achteren vervoerd. Vlakbij staat een verslaggever met cameraman van de Duitse TVzender Bild de scene op te nemen.

Slachtoffers
Er is gericht op de benen geschoten. Een jongeman bloed hevig. Eldor is een bekende betoger. Hij is aan het live streamen. Geschrokken roept hij dat het om een slagaderlijke bloeding gaat. De jongen is in acuut levensgevaar. Hij is door betogers met een auto naar het ziekenhuis gebracht.

Marco
Marco is een bekende reporter onder de kritische betogers. Eerder heb ik nog een foto van hem en Bianca genomen bij de trap van het WTC. Hij biedt hulp aan een gewonde. Daarbij wordt hij zelf geraakt door een kogel in zijn buik. Volgens de politie is deze kogel terug geketst en per toeval in zijn buik gekomen. Marco wordt zwaar gewond weggebracht naar het ziekenhuis.

Het blijft tot middernacht onrustig op de Coolsingel. De hele binnenstad is afgesloten. Mensen kunnen weg, maar niet erin. Het lijkt erop dat de ME daarna een razzia heeft gehouden op jonge mensen.

Ziekenhuis
Bij het ziekenhuis hebben geschrokken betogers zich verzameld om te horen hoe het met Marco gaat, te bidden en steun te betuigen. De kogel heeft de darmen en maag doorboord. Hij is geopereerd en de gaten zijn gedicht, maar de kogel zit er nog.

Arrestatie Eldor
Eldor die een schietincident van het schot in de been van de jongeman heeft gefilmd is er ook. Hij wordt rond middernacht door de politie in het ziekenhuis gearresteerd op verdenking van opruiing. Zijn live verslag is cruciaal om een beter beeld te krijgen van de situatie ter plekke. Zeker als de main stream media alleen het verhaal in voordeel van de overheid verteld.

Zaterdag 20 november Nederland
Voor zaterdag 20 november is de World Wide Demo in Amsterdam afgelast, maar veel mensen gaan. Bij deze betoging is de energie van verbinding volop aanwezig. Wel is er aandacht voor het geweld dat vrijdagavond in Rotterdam was en waarbij slachtoffers zijn gevallen. Op andere plekken in Nederland zijn er demonstraties.

Rotterdam
In Rotterdam is op zaterdag de ravage opgeruimd. De zwarte plekken in het beschadigde wegdek verraden de plekken waar brand was. In de avond is er weer veel ME, de twee waterkanonnen staan dit keer klaar. Een groepje Romeo’s loopt richting de Coolsingel.

Ik neem een foto en wordt gevorderd. Voordat ik mijn ID kan pakken worden mijn polsen naar binnen gedraaid, van de fiets gehaald en aangehouden op weigering van het niet tonen van de ID. Dat is een leugen. Na twee uur cel mag ik naar huis. in de gang en bij de balie zijn er veel minderjarigen, die zijn aangehouden.

Zondag 21 november
Eldor zit zondag nog steeds vast. De aanklacht is veranderd van opruiing naar openbare geweldpleging. Heel vreemd is dat. Op maandag wordt hij eindelijk vrijgelaten. Marco is stabiel ma over naar een ziekenhuis in de buurt van zijn woonplaats.

Albert en Max
Albert is een bekende live streamer en Max doet verslag. Beiden zijn in het weekend op verschillende locaties gearresteerd. Albert is aan het filmen als hij door een ME’er wordt mishandeld met de knuppel in zijn gezicht. Hij wordt gearresteerd. Onduidelijk is op welke gronden.

Vragen
Er zijn veel vragen over het protest in Rotterdam op vrijdag die uitgroeide in rellen.  Beelden van de live streams zijn de hele wereld over gegaan. Burgemeester Aboutaleb van Rotterdam verklaard dat het protest mocht plaatsvinden, zelf met vuurwerk. Hij wist niet dat er veel relschoppers zouden komen en de woede het protest veranderde in rellen.

De grootste vraag is waarom er met echte kogels gericht is geschoten?
Een andere belangrijke vraag is of de overheid inziet wat de gevolgen zijn van de destructieve maatregels die niet werken en alleen meer vrijheid van de burger afneemt?
