In the Netherlands there is the commemoration of the dead on 4 May. People commemorates all the dead and victims of the Second World War and all who were injured or killed during peace missions.

Ceremony
Last year there were no public commemoration due to the measures. Now there are sober meetings with representatives and authorities in various places in the Netherlands. This is also the case on the Stadhuisplein in Rotterdam near the War Memorial.

At 8 p.m. there is two minutes of silence. The rainy square accommodates 25 guests, who are five feet apart. Floral wreaths have already been placed on the statue.

Speak in silence

After the short ceremony, the mayor of Rotterdam goes to the town hall. The guests follow him. The chairs are folded and the musicians pack their instruments.

The silent message on the T-shirt for freedom has been seen. A group photo is made in front of the many wreaths with wonderfully scented flowers.

5 Mai is Liberation Day.

In Nederland is er op 4 mei de dodenherdenking. Men herdenkt alle doden en slachtoffers van de Tweede Wereldoorlog en allen die gewond zijn geraakt of zijn omgekomen tijdens vredesmissies.

Ceremonie
Vorig jaar was er vanwege de maatregelen geen openbare herdenking. Nu zijn er sobere bijeenkomsten met vertegenwoordigers en autoriteiten op verschillende plaatsen in Nederland. Zo ook op het Stadhuisplein in Rotterdam nabij het Oorlogsmonument.

Om 8 uur is er twee minuten stilte. Op het regenachtige plein is plaats voor 25 gasten, die 1,5 meter uit elkaar staan. Bij het beeld zijn al bloemenkransen gelegd.

Spreek in stilte
De regen en kou weerhoudt een kleine groep er niet van om in stilte te spreken. Spreek in stilte met duidelijke tekst voor vrijheid op witte T-shirts. Een mooi idee van Gerard Nederpel. Vrijheid maakt deel uit van deze herdenking.

Een man met een pet en bloemen in zijn hand ergert zich aan de 6 vrijheidsboodschappers. Hij spreekt zijn ergernis uit. De politie vraagt ​​de man kalm te blijven om samen in stilte te herdenken.

Einde
Na de korte plechtigheid gaat de burgemeester van Rotterdam naar het gemeentehuis. De gasten volgen hem. De stoelen worden opgevouwen en de muzikanten pakken hun instrumenten in.

De vrijheidsboodschap op het T-shirt is gezien. Voor de vele kransen met heerlijk geurende bloemen wordt een groepsfoto gemaakt.

5 Mei is het Bevrijdingsdag.
