It’s a busy day Sunday March 20th. It’s the day of the spring equinox. There’re drum circles in various places. And in Amsterdam there’s the World Wide Demo which has the name ‘the white connection’. Despite the chill and threatening rain, it remains dry.

White connection
In Amsterdam, the World Wide Demo Netherlands (WWD) starts from the museum square at 12:00. More than 2000 people are joining the march of the ‘white connection’. The atmosphere on this World Wide Demo is the unifying one. The police army is widely present, but they remain calm and facilitate at traffic junctions.

Violence
During the march violence was used by Romeos (undercover agents) against a number of people who stay behind on the museum square. It happens quickly and out of sight of most people.

Organizations
The veterans of the peace unit, the healthcare workers of ‘samen zorgen’, people from education and the fire service join the manifestation. The WWD is collaborating with other organizations in the world to manifest for freedom worldwide on the same day.

The WWD is supported by several organizations and platforms, such as Police for freedom and LLN media. Rick Kuitems, the founder of LNN media is responsible for the presentation on stage.
After the march the program continues from the podium on the Museumplein with speakers en music.

#freeWillem
Jeroen Pols of ‘Viruswaarheid’ wears a T-shirt with the text #freeWillem. Willem Engel is now a well-known Dutchman who speaks out for freedom and love. He speaks from facts or challenges the others to prove him wrong. He’s a scientist himself and together with Jeroen, is conducting lawsuits on behalf of ‘Viruswaarheid’ against government and other bodies that violate human rights.

Jeroen speaks about Willem’s arrest, which took place in Rotterdam after Willem had voted for the municipal elections. Quite unexpectedly, he was taken in front of his partner by two face-covered officers. Willem is arrested for sedition, which has not been proven at all. The arrest does have a political charge.

Peace Unit
The peace unit is one year old. The veterans and former soldiers are lined up in front of the stage. A year ago they became active after the brutal police violence on 14 March on the Malieveld, in which people were tortured. The measure was full that the ME (riot police), AE and Romeo’s attack peace-loving people with water cannons, horses, vans, batons and dogs.

March 20, 2021
The peace unit comes together for the first time and stands for the people. They want to de-escalate and protect the people. Once again, the police on Museumplein resort to violence. The peace unit stands in front of the 3,000 people as they are sprayed wet by water cannons. They remained standing as riot police used force. Most people go on a spontaneous march. On Keizersgracht, the police have locked in 1500 people and held them hostage for hours.

‘Samen zorgen’
‘samen zorgen’ – care together is an organization of professional care providers. On stage they remind everyone of what happened a year ago when the demonstration got completely out of hand by the police. 1500 People with wet clothes were held hostage in the cold on Keizersgracht. After hours they were taken by bus to the outskirts of Amsterdam, to be dumped there.

Stalls
On the side of the Museumplein are a number of stalls. Anyone can pick up newspapers, stickers and posters at the information stand. Next to it is a stall with fresh pine needles tea.

Music
After the speaker’s part of the organizations, musical performances follow. First the drum band will perform and the Ukes for Freedom will close the afternoon with their critical and sometimes comic songs. The organization of the World Wide Demo Netherlands closes with a song. Finally, all participants are thanked for coming.

Het is een drukke dag zondag 20 maart. Het is de dag van de lente-equinox. Er zijn drumcirkels op verschillende plaatsen. En in Amsterdam is er de World Wide Demo met de naam ‘de witte verbinding’. Ondanks de dreigende regen blijft het droog, maar kil.

Witte verbinding
In Amsterdam start om 12.00 uur de World Wide Demo Netherlands vanaf het museumplein. Meer dan 2000 mensen doen mee aan de mars van de ‘witte verbinding’. De sfeer op deze World Wide Demo is verbindend. Het politieleger is alom aanwezig, maar ze blijven kalm en faciliteren op verkeersknooppunten.

Geweld
Tijdens de mars werd wel geweld gebruikt door Romeo’s (undercoveragenten) tegen een aantal achterblijvers op het museumplein. Het gebeurt snel en uit het zicht van de meeste mensen.

Organisaties
De veteranen van de vredeseenheid, het zorgpersoneel van ‘samen zorgen’, mensen uit het onderwijs en de brandweer hebben zich als organisatie aangesloten. De WWD werkt ook met andere organisaties in de wereld samen om op dezelfde dag te manifesteren voor vrijheid wereldwijd.

De WWD wordt ondersteund door verschillende organisaties en platforms, zoals Police for Freedom en LLN media. Rick Kuitems, oprichter van LNN media doet de presentatie van het programma.
Na de mars gaat het programma verder vanaf het podium op het Museumplein met sprekers en muziek.

#freeWillem
Jeroen Pols van ‘Viruswaarheid’ draagt een T-shirt met de tekst #freeWillem. Willem Engel is inmiddels een bekende Nederlander die zich uitspreekt voor vrijheid en liefde. Hij spreekt vanuit feiten of daagt anderen uit om zijn ongelijk te bewijzen. Hij is zelf wetenschapper en voert samen met Jeroen namens ‘Viruswaarheid’ rechtszaken tegen de overheid en andere instanties die mensenrechten schenden.

Jeroen vertelt over de arrestatie van Willem, die plaatsvond in Rotterdam nadat Willem had gestemd voor de gemeenteraadsverkiezingen. Geheel onverwachts werd hij voor het oog van zijn partner meegenomen door twee met het gezicht bedekte agenten. Willem wordt gearresteerd voor opruiing, wat helemaal niet bewezen is. De arrestatie heeft wel een politieke lading.

Vredeseenheid
De vredeseenheid is een jaar oud. De veteranen en oud militairen staan opgesteld voor het podium. Een jaar geleden kwamen ze in actie na het zoveelste brute politiegeweld op 14 maart op het Malieveld, waarbij mensen zijn gemarteld. De maat was vol dat de ME (oproerpolitie), AE en Romeo’s vredelievende mensen aanvallen met waterkanonnen, paarden, busjes, wapenstokken en honden.

20 maart 2021
De vredeseenheid komt voor het eerst samen en staat voor het volk. Ze willen deescaleren en het volk beschermen. Wederom gaat de politie op het Museumplein over tot geweld. De vredeseenheid blijft voor de 3000 mensen staan terwijl ze nat worden gespoten door waterkanonnen. Ze bleven staan als de oproerpolitie geweld inzet. De meeste mensen gaan een spontane mars lopen. Op de Keizersgracht heeft de politie 1500 mensen ingesloten en uren gegijzeld.

‘Samen zorgen’
‘samen zorgen’ is een organisatie van professionele zorgverleners. Op het podium herinneren ze iedereen aan wat er een jaar geleden gebeurde toen de manifestatie volledig uit de hand liep door de politie. 1500 Mensen met natte kleren werden in de kou gegijzeld op de Keizersgracht. Na uren werden ze met de bus naar de buitenwijken van Amsterdam gebracht, om daar te worden gedumpt.

Kraampjes
Aan de kant van het Museumplein staan een aantal kraampjes. Bij de infostand kan iedereen kranten, stickers en posters halen. Ernaast staat een kraampje met verse dennennaaldenthee.

Muziek
Na het sprekersdeel van de organisaties volgen muzikale optredens. Eerst treedt de drumband op en de Ukes for Freedom vormen de afsluiter van de middag met hun kritische en soms komische liedjes. De organisatie van de World Wide Demo Netherlands sluit af met een lied. Tot slot worden alle deelnemers bedankt voor hun komst.
